Tom Posio - Vocals, Saxophone, Flute & Clarinet
Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ, Tom started playing in local bands in his early teens. He played behind most of today's Classic Rock stars when their records were in the Top Ten. While gaining a Bachelor's Degree, he continued playing in local bands while making his way into studio recording work in New York City, playing on commercials, records, and many TV and movie soundtracks in the 60s and '70s.... including Hawaii Five-0, and NYPD Blue. During that same period, he traveled from the Catskills to California performing with many notable artists, including The Classics IV, Del Shannon, The Dovels, Lionel Hampton, Vicki Carr, and Isaac Perlman, just to name a few. Tom performed a solo on the Emmy-Nominated soundtrack of The Amityville Horror and also made a brief appearance in the award-winning movie. In the 1980s a local hit turned his group, The Jitterz, into a popular opening act for The Ramones, at Cibbie Jeebees, in NYC. The 1990s saw an ever-growing amount of recording work, and a long run with the well-known recording and performing group, Twilight. Ending a twelve-year run as one of the Metropolitan area's best-known Oldies Groups, Tom played behind almost every famous oldies artist performing today.
From 2001-2006, Tom leads a Trio known as a Class Act with his Fiancee, Cindy Young, on Lead Vocals and Keyboards. From 2006 - 2007, Tom produced, co-wrote, with Cindy, and performed on a CD entitled, "Salin Again" by his new group The Post War Baby Band. A cut from the CD called, "I Want a Job in the Jimmy Buffet Band" made quite a stir on iTunes and the CD was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Library, as the best small independent company production in 2015.
From 2006 -2020 found Tom and Cindy Mazzocco performed in a Great Society band called Tapestry, playing in Country Clubs, Hotels, and Yacht Clubs. Tom also played for a famous oldies group called The Cameos playing at the PNC Arts Center to a full stadium in New Jersey. He also played with the Beach Group called 45 RPM doing over 250 shows and recorded with The Belmonts in 2019. He also played with The Lenny Davis Band before moving to Southport, NC, and renewed the group Class Act with its present members.
Cindy Mazzocco - Lead Vocals and Keyboards
Born and Raised in Upstate New York, Cindy was considered a natural exceptional talent as a young child. By her teens, she captured the leads in local musicals. This leads to several seasons with the Bristol Valley Playhouse, a professional theatrical road company, performing musicals throughout the Metropolitan Area. The next fifteen years found Cindy composing music, as she raised her family, and performed on weekends with local bands. She performed her original material with Young and Wright, a duo who showcased their material at many famous New York City venues, including The Bitter End, The Village Gate, and The Bottom Line, just to name a few. This led to Radio Spots and recording sessions, including the making of many jingles and commercials. This was followed by 8 years as the lead singer of Pleasure Child, a top Metro Area Disco, and Top 40's Act. With her family grown, Cindy joined the traveling and recording Show Band "J.T Carter and the Crests" (formally the late 50's group 'The Crests", (fronted by the late Johnny Maestro).
Cindy became a key member of the now well-known group, Twilight. She performed with this group for 12 years in the New Jersey market and was a key performer in the star-studded album' "Digital Doo Wop" (considered one of the best oldies "Reunion Albums" of all time).
Sam Falvo - Drummer
Sam hails from the Jersey Shore, home to many great musicians. As a young boy he started with guitar, then piano, but it was drums, at age 11, that caught his full attention and love. At 14 he and a few school musician friends started a band and have become lifelong friends to this day. At 14 they started writing their own material and Sam entered the band for an audition with a local record producer from Cleopatra Records. By the age of 16, The Inmates were having a record released on the Columbia Record Label from New York City. If you Google "The Inmates Runaway" you will find 12 re-released songs from the band and an in-depth article about the band from the mid-'60s. Sam played for many years up and down the Jersey shore at various Beach Bars, Teen Clubs, Country Clubs Casinos, and Hotels, also playing the College Circuit in the Tri-State area honing his drumming style. They opened for many acts including Johnny Thunder of Loop De Loop Fame, Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, and The Cyrkle.
From the age of 16 to 21, Sam was also a drum instructor for The Red Bank School of Music where he met and became friends with Garry Tallent, who was a Bass Guitar instructor and future member of the E-Street Band.
John E Townsend - Bass, Vocals & Guitar
Born in Baltimore, John stepped on stage as a guitarist for a 12 piece Motown Band called the Nomads in Philadelphia at the age of 15. They graced the stages of The Presidential Hotel, The Bellevue Stratford Hotel, the Academy of Music, and many other sought after venues.
Since then, he has performed with several bands including his own, Touch of Gold, specializing in Doo Wop music. They performed in the Philadelphia area at venues including the Sunnybrook Ballroom. They also performed music for the city of Pottstown, PA, prior to Independence day fireworks annually, playing for average audiences of 15,000.
He has been a worship leader and director for Hope Community Church in Gilbertsville PA while simultaneously leading worship for two other churches in the area. He has also assisted worship at Waterbrook Church in Little River.
John moved to the Myrtle Beach area in 2014 and has been performing as a one-man band called JT And The Strats. Until recently he also performed in a duo called Creampuffs and Bourbon.
He plays the guitar, saxophone, keyboards, and mandolin but his main instrument is Bass Guitar. John also composes music and as a member of ASCAP, he has copyrighted over a dozen songs.
With a love of all kinds of music and the ability to vocally harmonize, he is excited to add his voice to A Class Act.
